Theresa Brost is a multi-disciplinary artist who finds beauty in the "not-quite-right." Now based in Munich, she has developed a creative life defined by two distinct but echoing practices.
In her fine art, Theresa focuses on the creation of her "Gestalten"—humanoid figures that act as mirrors for our questions about identity and reality. She moves between the disciplined, rhythmic precision of fine-liner ink on paper and the slow, atmospheric richness of oil painting. For her, these mediums are a way to give physical form to the modern psyche, building metaphorical worlds that feel both alien and deeply familiar.
Parallel to this is her work in photography, which she treats as a separate yet vital practice of observation. Through the lens, she explores the world in its rawest form, using conceptual study to capture the nuances of human relationships. While her drawings and paintings dive into the subconscious, her photography anchors her in the present, documenting the complexities of the world as she finds it.
